Creative Acts: Artists and their inspirations

15 August 2025 – 31 May 2026

State Library Victoria – Victoria Gallery

State Library Victoria’s latest exhibition, Creative Acts: Artists and their inspirations, invites you to step inside the unseen inner worlds of artists to discover the intense, sometimes otherworldly forces that drive them to bring something entirely new into being.

Explore new commissioned work from Peter Carey, Dr Chandrabhanu OAM, Deanne Gilson, Barry William Hale and Bundit Puangthong.

Plus, through almost 600 collection items on display, find out why the process is just as powerful as the outcome – from Vali Myers’s spiritual connection with animals to the inspiration behind Joan Lindsay’s Picnic at Hanging Rock.

The exhibition launches on 15 August 2025 and runs daily until 31 May 2026. Entry is free and tickets are not required.
