Laurel Halo live with Leila Bordreuil
Fri 22 Aug
Melbourne Recital Centre – Elisabeth Murdoch HallAcclaimed composer, producer, and DJ Laurel Halo brings an enigmatic sound to the stage for this rare live performance of new works.
Globally recognised for defying genres while harnessing an unmistakable sonic signature, Halo is a bona fide shape-shifter of sound. Halo’s oeuvre – flitting between ambient, jazz, experimental, left-field club and avant-pop – defies classification. Over the past 15 years, Halo has forged a remarkable path with celebrated releases and collaborations with leading artists across music, design and contemporary art.
At Melbourne Recital Centre, Halo performs at the grand piano, joined by cellist Leila Bordreuil. Together, they blend precise sound design, layered composition and masochistic amounts of subtractive EQ dissolving the space between performer and listener.

Halo’s fifth solo album maps a diaphanous universe in which no line extends for long without dissolving into an inky blot, and even the densest, most massive shapes might disintegrate beneath a puff of breath.
