DISTRACTION
26 Jul — 20 Dec 2025
Science Gallery MelbourneYou know that thing you’re supposed to be doing right now? Forget all about it and dive into the streaming torrent of content where our brains go when we want to focus on anything but “the thing.”
DISTRACTION leans into this world of endless scrolling and clicking, unpacking the cacophony of content and our desperate need to make meaning from it. A hundred tabs open, yet we continue to search for a thread of clarity.
As we bounce around the whirring pinball machine of existence, where do we find ourselves amidst it all? With confusion reigning, disinformation spreading, and truth itself being questioned, attention becomes a commodity – profit-driven and easily manipulated. Yet, we remain creatures of creativity and connection, constantly adapting and surprising.
Through local and international experimental projects – some developed in collaboration with scientists and researchers – you are invited to explore this complex world of distraction on your terms. The time is yours. What will you do with it?
